Church and a tour round Bungmati

Today I went to church for the first time in years. The service was in Nepali, we sat crossed legged on the floor, and I didn’t understand a word the entire time. Plus, I think I am the only foreigner in the entire village.

The girls were cute, they all put on clean clothes and got very excited that I was coming. The smallest girls didn’t come, but they were so cute standing at my door I took a photo anyway.

The oldest girls went into town to church with Eli and Gopal and their children. The younger girls went in two groups to the village church, one service in the morning, one in the afternoon. Some girls have left for the festival, so the house is quite quiet today.

After the service Heera gave me a tour around the village.

I noticed lots of woodcarvers in the village, so I’m keen to go back and have a look at the amazing panels that were being made. On the walk home (the orphanage is on the hill above the village), we got a snack from a vendor on the side of the road. They eat rice bubbles here, but mixed with chilli and soybeans, or the other night we had it with baked chicken. I must do a post about the amazing food here! I eat better than in New Zealand. (Still losing weight though.)

Then home sweet home, where I had a million missed calls, and emails, and lunch waiting for me! Tomorrow I am going to Nagarkot to see Everest at sunset with Kanniri, my American friend.

  2. Everest at sunset will be amazing...will look forward to the photos

Dad and Sam are coming here soon for dinner...belated birthday dinner for Sam really. I'm doing sate (beef & chicken)and rice with a salad. I've also made some kinda/sorta spring rolls...will be interesting:-)

I also made a choc pie for dessert and will put strawberries on top. Remember the one you made for Sam's b'day at Record St? It was absolutely fantastic...soft and yummy. This one is an Annabel Langbein recipe and not quite up to that one. Do you remember where you got the recipe from?

    Take care...love always xxxooo
